So many NASCAR questions have been deleted lately. Is there anyway to stop this.?

May be...

  • My answer today wishing Tom a Happy birthday was reported and removed. That bothered me only because it was just a mean thing to do.
I think someone lurks and doesn't answer questions just so we don't think that one is around. Also I think that one has multiple accounts to do it from as well. yet Y/A doesn't want to bother looking at that.
I think rowdy is right. No more answers here and we all go "there". Trolls are not tolerated 'there".
let the hater have this one all to itself..
  • I agree with everything that foxfire said.
Also, I know that you meant well with this question, but you're giving the guilty parties just what they want. You're letting them know that it bothers you and that's how they get their jollies.
Trolls come and go. As hard as it may be, please try to ignore them. There are a lot of good, intelligent and fun people here on Y/A NASCAR. They will still be here after the trolls have moved on. : )
  • There's too many people who just like to be buttheads lately, so they go around reporting questions from people they don't like, just for the heck of it. I mean, I understand this isn't supposed to be a chat room, but some of the things told to me lately have made me realize that some people take this way too seriously, and I need to take a step back.
  • I'm glad I'm not the only one who's been getting all the troll love. I've had 4 answers reported today. Up until today I'd only had 3 violations in the past 2 years on the same account! It's nice to see there are still people out there with nothing better to do with their lives then be an a**.
  • to solve the problem, don't ask any more questions. take your "business" elsewhere.
if YA wants to allow this kind of behavior (and implicitly encourage it), then i say screw 'em. i'm no example of maturity myself, but if that's the way things are going to be, i'll stay where i've been the past few weeks, where writing is appreciated, good comments and debate flow freely, and where trolls are dealt with swiftly.
  • In the last 2 weeks questions have been disappearing faster then Houdini, and I don't understand why. I just went to check the question honoring Superdave and its gone. Just wanted to know if there was something to do to stop it. I was told once that if you star them it stays but I guess thats wrong.
  • Yeah...I saw that...and my answer got reported...some punk is running around reporting people...for no reason...and all i did was say jimmie johnson was gonna win...
  • Isn't NASCAR racing the best sport around! SuperDave is great too, one of those I most respect! I know all about suspended accounts, believe me, better than most. The tr0!!s are mean, but worse, they are self feeding! Just look around and see who is around when things disappear, and not around when they don't. This whole thing will probably disappear, at least my answer if nothing else. Hang in there. Make sure all questions and answers are within the guidelines...boring for a while, but those that don't belong get bored easily with true NASCAR stuff.

    *JUJU*
  • I have noticed that too!!!

Mine too, about SuperDave. It got reported, and all I said is Jamie McMurray is going to win tonight, and Have a great day Superdave you are a great asset to this forum!

This is the second question I have had reported today and then I went back to see if the questions were there and they werent!! I dont know whats up but its making me extremely mad!

Its weird, and especially because there are a couple of us!
  • same here
    stupidest thing i ever seen
what= they dont look at what gets reported
  • One of mine got some troll love today. As they say in nascar. What comes around goes around and that one among us who deletes reputable questions and answers..they are coming around for you!
  • yes thats true my question was deleted as well hmm , we need to stop this its slowing this section causing people to leave and newcomers to go as well
  • Yeah I know every time I answer a question it feels like it gets deleted, I am very sick and tired of this, I answered one earlier about the pink paint scheme's and it got deleted tell me how when all I said was that I like Elliott's best and that maybe it would bring him luck and he'd win one for Tom tonight but it got deleted, nice huh? If you figure something out on how to stop the reporting all the time for no reason let me know cause I'm really tired of it!central locking problems
  • Did anybody else see robby gordons car in final practice?

    May be...

  • that was sick
  • Yes. On CNN they showed the in-car view... he was playing with himself.
  • Nah....he was just a little loose-off.

On second thought, was Carl Edwards behind him???
  • he had that thing sideways!!! that thing was way to the extreme he was turning towards the wall down the straightaways. i think there might be another rule change after tonight
  • Thanks Dude Report Abuse
  • Yeah I saw that in final practice. To me that looks like more than the one degree allowed by NASCAR. Many teams had "yaw" the last time in May especially the Penske cars. I am actually surprised NASCAR acccepted that car in inspection. We'll see how he does tonight but I would not be surprised if NASCAR does something more about this
  • I'm far more interested in his paint scheme. It's stealing Paul Menard's thunder ><
  • I seen that!!
He was running the high and low groove, on the same lap
    lol
  • i wanna go fast
  • nope
  • I didnt see it but I believe it.

Even Jeff Burton said I would rather be loose in this race then tight, so maybe its his game plan for the night.
  • TMI conquistador.... no i didnt he must think its the baha racearrival fraport
  • Will Elliott Sadler win tonight?

    May be...

  • Even this die hard Dale Jr fan would love to see The Pink Rocket in Victory lane, that is one awesome car, I hope it comes out in a die cast, I gotta get that one. Yes, it would be cool, if not I hope he gets a top 3, I hope nobody wrecks that car its just so awesome looking to be in a wreck, Nascar should penalize any driver who wrecks it.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • no he wont
  • I doubt it. He could use a win though.
  • no he wont win i thank 48 is
  • I As you team mate beg to differ, Just let me remind you , The All-Star Race , And the first race at lowes! Were both won by Kasey, so your going to have a tuff race on your hand LIL BRO!

As well as Kasey wants in the record books for winning at Lowes all three times in a season!

AND HE'S HUNGRY FOR A WIN! but I hope Elliott comes in second , we still are team mates, It my Job to hope for the best for ya!!!

    GO TEAM GEM!!!!!!!!

OH, BTW LIL BRO, HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. PRESIDENT!!
YA, I know , then I would have to pay attention to another driver, but that's O.K. Go Team GEM!
  • No i don't think he will win but i think he will finish in the top 20.
  • It would be nice to see Elliott back in victory lane, especially with the Breast Cancer Awareness scheme(I know it would mean a lot to him and his family because of the battle his mother had with breast cancer, plus it's a victory).Being that he didn't get a chance to qualify the car,he will have to start about halfway through the field(22nd),but he had a really good 1st practice. He was 3rd on those charts. They must have made too much of an adjustment or adjusted the car the wrong way during final practice because his speeds in that was 30th fastest. That practice probably doesn't reflect how he will run, though. The race is 500 miles and they have some good results from that first practice to fall back on.I hope they can make a good adjustment for him;I wouldn't be mad if he went to victory lane tonight.Good luck Tom!!
  • Just because it's your birthday, HELL YEAH!!!

I could sing for ya, but I'd clear out the forum in five seconds flat, lol...
  • Haaaaaiiillll YAZ.. he will. he'll win 2nd right behind Kyle. I have faith in that boy.

    :0)

He looks great, and I do want him to get a win this year!!!

Gooooooo Elliot and that HOT PINK Dodge! WHOOOO HOOOOO!!!!
  • Well I sure do hope he gives you a good show.

Heck, he has been looking real good lately so he just may be doing the victory lap at Jimmie's house tonight.
  • That would be cool if he did. I like ol Sadler.

But It will be either Jimmie Johnson, or Kyle Busch.
  • I hope so...
  • Its possible.
But i'm going with the 17car or the Ga. boy in the 6
  • I'd love to see a pink car in victory lane and Happy Birthday Tom.
  • Well our dear birthday boy I think Elliott will have one heck of a birthday gift for his #1 fan and that's a trip to victory lane just for you!! Of course that means I will also have one for ya by sporting the #19 avatar for our bet! LOL But it's all good!

Good Luck to Elliott and all our drivers tonight!
  • It's your birthday??? Well, you know what to wish for when you blow out the candle on your cake :). I hope he wins too.
  • being the va gentleman that i am, i hope my homestate boy does well --
    outrun most of them anyway!!!!
  • It would be nice to see Sadler up front.

However, I have to stick with rooting for my guys, but if he gets up there, I will root for him with you, and hope he wins! (Unless hes up against one of my guys. Sorry).
  • you know he has done well lately he could be the dark horse tonight
  • Crystal ball is still broken. Maybe...but he will have the best looking car out there.

    May be...

  • I missed the first part?
  • Brett has it down.

Bryan Clauson's car bottomed out and he spun. He didnt collect anyone else in it.

Then in the second one, Jeff Green didnt get started and was too slow (I think he was entering pit row), and Mike Bliss bumped him so he went spinning into the grass.
  • Bryan Clauson- Lap 2, spun around and hit wall with rearend

Jeff Green- Lap 6 or 7, got spun around coming around turn 4, didnt hit anything, but went threw grass.
  • Bryan Clauson on lap 2 when the 40 car got underneath him and he lost it in Turns 1 and 2 and slapped the wall.tick symbol font

Mr.President, you've done an incredible job around here bringing honest opinions and great ideas to the table. Great job with Breast Cancer Awareness.

Also a very happy birthday! :)

    Have a wonderful day! :)
  • just adding my 2 cents,

Happy Birthday to you------ An many moooore!

    By the way Today's my wife's birthday, I married A perfect 10/10/75
  • Yes that was bad that they didn't get a chance to qualify.
Congratulations Mr. President !!! If anyone ever needed to be honored it is Him !!!! One of the Greatest Contributors on this forum !

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR.PRESIDENT !!!!!!!
  • Yes, i was disappointed, but what can ya do?

I personally think the chase is not a place for rookies to start to "cut their teeth"

    Congrats to The Pres........

And keep up the good work, promoting cancer awareness of any kind is invaluable.

On that subject, I am offering free breast exams. Please send me pictures of the area to be examined and I will get back to you with the results.
  • Were you disappointed that Bryan Clauson(#40), Brad Keselowski(#25) & Scott Speed(#82) didn't get a chance to qualify and race on Saturday?

Or, do you think that guys who are making their first cup start do it in a non Chase race instead of one that is in "The Chase" where there is so much at stake with the chase drivers?

I would like to honor Mr President(Tom G) and all that he has done to bring Breast Cancer Awareness to millions of people on Yahoo Answers and especially our Nascar section.

Another thing, tommorow is Mr Presidents Birthday and I would like to wish him a very very happy birthday. You are the Man Mr President.
  • Yeah I was really looking forward to it. I fully expected Scott Speed to get a top 10. It doesn't matter what race they start to me, I just like seeing what the newer guys can come in and do. As long as they don't cause a big wreck it's fine with me.

Oh, I didn't catch that the first time but happy birthday Tom G!
  • yes highly disapointed
    happy birthday prez.
  • I am not really all that dissapointed, they will get their chance in due time. Tom G, we all honor you today and thank you for making us more aware of breast cancer. If one person gets early treatment because of your campaign it will be the best thing accomplished during your term as President. Keep up the fine work, you are well respected. I hope you have a HAPPY BIRTHDAY tomorrow. Enjoy the race and have a great weekend!

  • I wish theyd get to race that sucks

    happy birthday prez

  • Yes I was...especially Scott Speed. But yeah I can see where a rookie mistake could lead to someone not winning a championship if he takes out that driver. Maybe starting next season would be great.

Tom, one of the nicest guys around anywhere...and I am happy to say a good friend. I honor you today for all that you do and all that you are.

Yes a Very very happy birthday....and good luck at college and all that you do. You will keep in touch with your Y/A friends??? We will make you. Remember my fellow New Yorker...I (sort of) know where you live!! :0)
  • I was. But when its NASCAR vs. Mother Nature usually Mother Nature wins.
  • I was disappointed that they didn't have a chance but these rookies are jumping up through the series way too early ad it's creating a bunch of Casey Atwood's.

Thank you very much for the kind words and the birthday wishes. It is all of you that I should be thanking, I couldn't do it without all of your support and participation. Hope Elliott can get a win for me tomorrow.

And Tom P, let me know if you need any second opinions. LMAO

  • I was bummed for them but personally I think they are moving these young guys way to fast, give them time in Nationwide before putiing them with the big-boys. They need time to learn and mature before racing in the Sprint series and the seasoned veterans will most likely put a real hurting on them.

I am always happy to honor Tom! I also will bet the email fairy will leave him a little something for his birthday tomorrow....LOL!!
  • I'm disappointed, I've been waiting to see Brad Keslowski run in a Cup race. He has proven that he can win a race against the Cup drivers who run in the Nationwide series without causing any problems. It would of been very interesting to see how he would of handled himself in a Chase race. He has the desire to win but I just don't see him holding back any of the drivers who are in the Chase. JMO

Mr. President - Great Job. You Rock!! Hoping your birthday is a very happy one, you deserve it. Happy Birthday to You!!
  • Well I was busy most of the day yesterday so I didn't even realize it was cancelled until this morning. But yea it sucks those guys didn't even get a chance. I was really looking forward to seeing how Scott Speed would do since he's done so well in the Trucks so far this season.

Happy B-day Tom! Hopefully Elliot will have a good run tomorrow. Kevin won on my b-day weekend in 06 and it's still one of my favorite wins of his. Have a great day tomorrow!
  • I was real disappointed about Keselowski not being able to qualify and Speed too. But that is the way it rolls.

Tom G thank you for all you have done with breast cancer awareness. You have the valuable skill of informing and getting people to act. Happy Birthday!

Tom P you crack me up.

  • NASCAR jokes or ridiculous stories?

    May be...

  • Most people just want to answer questions like "Who is yor favorite driver?". Report Abuse
  • I need a laugh. Have you heard any new NASCAR jokes or funnies?
  • Brian France and Mike Helton
  • What's green and flies?

Super Pickle, or Kyle Busch in the Interstate Batteries Toyota!
  • Kyle Busch went to the doctor with 2 red ears.. The doctor asked Kyle what had happened to your ears and Kyle answered, "I was in my motor coach at the track and was ironing a shirt and the phone rang - but instead of picking up the phone I accidentally picked up the iron and stuck it to my ear."
"Oh Dear!" the doctor exclaimed in disbelief. "But. what happened to your other ear?" Kyle said "They called back."

    -----------

OMG did you hear the news about Kyle Busch being in a wreck earlier today?

He was driving down the road and saw some old high school friends of his and he stuck his head out of the window and was going to yell at them and when he did the wind caught his ears and they got to flapping and his ears just about beat him to death. Witnesses said they thought it was a tire blowing out.

    --------------

Kyle Busch moved into a new apartment of his own and went to the lobby to put his name on his mailbox. While he was there, an attractive young lady in a robe came out of her apartment next to the mailboxes.

Kyle smiled at the young woman, and she started a conversation with him. As they talked, her robe slipped open, and it was obvious that she had nothing else on.

Kyle broke into a sweat trying to maintain eye contact. After a few minutes, she placed her hand on his arm and said, "Let's go to my apartment. I hear someone coming."

He followed her into her apartment; she closed the door and leaned against it, allowing her robe to fall off completely. Now nude, she purred at him, "Meow ... what would you say is my best feature?'

Flustered and embarrassed, Kyle finally squeaked, "It's got to be your ears."

Astounded and a little hurt, she asked, "My ears? Look at these breasts; they are full and 100% natural. I work out every day, and my butt is firm and solid. Look at my skin -- no blemishes anywhere. How can you think that the best part of my body is my ears?"

Clearing his throat, Kyle stammered..."Outside, when you said you heard someone coming... that was me."for-treats-for-dogs

  • OMG you are as bored as I am....LOL!!!

  • LOL
  • This is not even a question, nor are most of your posts. Try asking a question so people can answer them instead of just agreeing with your statements, and saying "oh that's so cute" My answer to your question (yeah right!) is: "i'm sorry sweety, I highly doubt it"
  • That's Right, but you Can't polish a Turd.
  • There's an interesting entry for the race at Martinsville next week... a non-numbered car! Penske Racing will be entering a blue car with an ampersand in lieu of the number. Rumor is that it will be driven by Burt Reynolds, star of such famous racing movies as "Stroker Ace" and "Smokey And The Bandit." For this opportunity, however, Roger Penske has decided to pull the famous Blue Deuce out of the race, just this once.

    The moral of the story?
A turd in the "and" is worth Busch in the two.
  • Alrighty then. Someone must be bored.
  • Alright! Go Bandit! JK....LOL! Thanks for lightening the mood in the community, Jozi. :Demirates ticket confirmation

    Alright NASCAR NATION!!!?

    May be...

  • He didn't suggest using peanut oil for the cars did he???
  • he sold peanuts to the fans
  • what did Jimmy Carter have to do with nascar before he was a president
  • He was honorary starter at an Atlanta race.

Green Flag - they played a joke on the president by telling him that honorary starters were required to wear a metal cup and a jockstrap over their private parts to protect them against an aerodynamic vacuum created by the cars at high speed. Mr. Carter asked what he should do, and Harold told him to cross his legs as high as he could before he waved the green flag.

To make a long story short chief starter Harold Kinder almost lost his job for playing the trick on the President of the United States. When the race started The president was waving the flag with his legs crossed. Bill France was not too happy.
    ----------
You mean no no and yes. This may not be what your question's answer was but Jimmy Carter is tied to NASCAR by being an honorary starter.

    http://www.circletrack.com/newsletters/c...

My answer is right. It may not be what you are looking for but it is a legitimate answer to your question. If you already knew the answer then why did you ask the question?
    --------------------

    OKAY THEN

Jimmy Carter is a peanut farmer and Planteer's Peanuts are one of the "Official Snacks of NASCAR." David Ragan is from Georgia too.
  • Wild guess: He was a spotter.
  • Tina is right 100%...Good jobair bank mile royal
  • NASCAR Nation...is it likely?

    May be...

  • Yes!!
Carl Edwards is going to win it!!!
  • anything is possible. i think it can happen.
  • Like the others have said anything can happen but I don't think anyone outside the top 5 is going to get up there. The chase drivers have their wildcard out of the way now(Talladega) those chase drivers are going to be very consistent. It would just take alot of bad luck on the top 5 guys for them to get a shot at it. But I have learned that you can never count anybody out until they are mathematically eliminated.

Its not over til its over.
  • Pending no tire or engine failures, Elliott Sadler, I mean Jimmie Johnson will be the Champion.
  • This is not a bragging question(I admit I do that sometimes hehe).

In 2006,Jimmie Johnson went into the Fall race at LMS 156 points behind Jeff Burton and went on to win the championship with some great runs during the final five races of the season. As of now, there are four drivers within that same margin of Jimmie Johnson going into this weekend's race:
    Carl Edwards(-72)
    Greg Biffle(-77)
    Jeff Burton(-99)
    Clint Bowyer(-152)

We all know that it is mathematically possible for any of these drivers(really for any driver, but not realistically for those outside of the top five right now),but is it likely?
    What are your thoughts??
  • Well considering Jimmie has not had any bad luck, I'd say anything is possible. Carl Edwards or Da Bif can get hot at any minute.. Its not over till the checkered flag falls in Homestead.. Especially this yr, its been a total silly season..

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Anything is possible.

Let's hope that it is a real exciting last five races.
  • If I am not mistaken, wasn't it Matt Kensith and not Jeff Burton who was up there with Jimmy in '06???

Matt had a string of bad runs, and had a quote : "It's our Championship to lose.

I would really like to see Biffle win it, since my boys are JGR are pretty much out of it.
  • I'm honestly getting tired of saying this:

Jimmie Johnson will win the 2008 Sprint Cup!
  • Sure he has a good chance, but I think Kasey will win this weekend, and screw everything up! It should be an interesting next 5 weeks. Go NASCAR!

    *JUJU*
  • I think that every track in the Chase favors Johnson. Not one other driver has won at every track coming up (c'mon, homestead doesn't count)
  • If Jimmie suddenly suffers Rowdy's bad luck for the next couple races, yes. On the flip side, it may go down to Homestead to decide. This is why the Chase is a joke-heaven forbid any of the drivers out of the top twelve touch one of these cars. France has ruined NASCAR.
  • Okay, since it's not going the way I want it to and since we have no way of knowing how it's really going to go, I'm going to tell you how I would like to see it turn out.

Jeff Gordon wins at LMS, there is a big crash that takes up all the front runners and Stewart comes in 2nd, Jr. comes in 3rd.

Jeff Gordon wins at Martinsville by 2 seconds, Jr comes in second, Stewart comes in third, Jimmie takes 4th and Biffle takes fifth.

Jeff Gordon wins at Atlanta, Jimmie comes in 2nd, the rest of the chasers get caught up in a crash only Stewart and Jr get back on the track and run laps but finish over 30 laps down.

Jeff Gordon wins Texas (finally), Burton takes 2nd, Hamlin takes third, Kyle Busch takes out Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin, the rest of the chasers have car issues and finish outside the top 20.

Jeff Gordon wins Phoenix again!, Jr comes in 2nd, Stewart is 3rd, Biffle is 4th, Burton is 5th, Hamlin is 6th, Kenseth is 7th, Edwards is 8th, Jimmie is 9th and the rest of the chasers finish outside the top 15 due to wrecks or engine failures.

Jeff Gordon wins Homestead! Jimmie comes in second, Jr is 3rd and the rest don't matter.

I don't know how this falls out points-wise, but I like the winners anyway. lol
  • on what--- what the hell do you want to know
if its the 48?its probably written in stone
  • The chances of any of those drivers dominating THAT much (like Jimmie did) AND the 48 car having major pitfalls are slim. Here's the difference between Jimmie doing what he did in 2006 and the likelihood of another driver being able to do the same, this stretch of races fits much more into Jimmie's strengths than anyone else. He is arguably the best flat track driver on the ovals right now (Martinsville and Phoenix) and THE best 1 1/2 miler the cup series has seen in quite awhile (Lowe's, Atlanta and Texas). Though Greg and Carl are also very good at the intermediate tracks they have both struggled mightlily at Martinsville and somewhat at Phoenix. Homestead is where the Roush cars have a noticeable advantage but it may be pretty much decided before they get there if Jimmie can avoid problems in the next 5 races.

  • OK, I have listened to THE NATION, who do I use now?

    May be...

  • My fantasy racing lineup for this Saturday night..............

    GROUP A: Choose One
    Johnson or Edwards

    GROUP B: Choose Two
    Martin, Mears, Kahne, B. Labonte

    GROUP C: Choose One
    Allmendinger or Reutimann

My fate rests in your hand NASCAR NATION............

    Thanks!!
  • Group A: Edwards (that's more of a wish as I think Johnson's won enough at LMS it's time to give someone else some turns)

Group B: Martin & Kahne (I wish Labonte because he's due, but I'm trying to be realistic)

Group C: Reutimann (He's used to his ride and Allmendinger isn't)
  • Johnson because he has the best average finish there and he's consistant.

Labonte and Martin. They are both good there and if they stay out of trouble they'll be in the top 10.

Reutimann. He's on a hot streak with a few top 10's under his belt lately.
  • Jimmie Johnson in the A Group. He will be in more of points mode and shouldn't be doing anything stupid that might jeopordize his spot in the standings. He's also due for a win there real soon. He won 5 out of 6 points races there from 2003 to 2005 but hasn't since. This is 250th cup start and they have a different paint scheme this week, you can be sure they would like to get it into victory lane at LOWE'S Motorspeedway if they can.
Martin and Kahne seem to be the logical choices in B but I am more inclined to wait for ALL the practices and qualifying before I make a decision. Also look at the practice speeds at the recent tire test there. With that said, Mark is about as consistent of a driver that there has been this year, I'd run him regardless and then figure out that last spot later.
In C group I would lean towards Reutimann just because of his recent consistency. AJ is probably better at the 1 1/2 mile tracks but the one race venture with MWR has me thinking it might be best to sit him this week. Allmendinger will not have a lot of time to adjust to a new team and crew chief. Good luck!

  • Group A: I'd choose Edwards. He has shown he is willing to do just about anything to win a race and this guy doesn't get that unlucky that often. He is going to bring a challenge to Johnson I believe this will be Edwards week at Johnson's home track.

Group B: Mark Martin and Casey Mears. Casey ran very well at 'Dega and HMS tends to also run very well at LMS. I personally would be surprised to see Mears in the Top 10, even maybe Top 5. Mark Martin is a gimme pick. He has new life since being picked up by HMS and he really wants to leave DEI with it's best possible position. And the way the DEI cars ran at 'Dega, its no long stretch that they may also do well this week.

Group C: Score one for the Dinger! MWR has been bettering itself each week and so has Allmendinger. It's a perfect fit this week and I have no doubts in my head he will score atleast a Top 15.
  • Group A: Edwards. He had his bad race last week..it may soon be time for Johnson to have his mulligan race.

Group B: Martin, Kahne. Martin runs good every time in that car, and Kahne is very good at Lowes..Won the Coca Cola 600 earlier this year and the All Star Challenge

Group C: Allmendinger. Just a flat out better driver than Reutimann
  • GROUP A:
    Johnson(5 wins,8 Top-5's,11 Top 10's)

    GROUP B:
    Martin(2 wins,12 Top 5's,14 Top-10's)
    Kahne(3 wins,4 3 Top 5's,4 Top 10's)also has won 3 of the last 4 races at LMS

    GROUP C:
    Reutimann(finished 10th in this year's Coca-Cola 600)
  • Johnson

    Martin, and Labonte

    Allmendinger
  • Edwards
    Martin/Kahne
    Reuti.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms
  • Johnson

    Mark Martin and B. Labonte

    Allmendinger
  • These picks are not by favorite or statistics, but my own gut feeling

    Group A - Edwards

    Group B - Mark Martin

    Group C - Allmendinger
  • A - Johnson
    B - Kahne, Martin
    C - Reutimann

May as well wait till after qualifying tonight to lock in and give yourself a better idea of how they look. Good luck!

  • Why oh why can't people see Hamilton for what he is. A total trouble maker the sport could do without?

    May be...

  • The only trouble Lewis makes in F1 is for the other 19 drivers!
He is a class act who has been a top class driver ever since he sat in a go-kart. Get on u-tube and have a look at an 11 year old Hamilton blitzing the opposition in the pouring rain. The sport was BORING and predictable before Lewis came onto the scene, he has invigorated F1.
  • Your someone yahoo answers could do without.

A trouble maker? I thought that was Alonso last year winging like a baby if he doesn't get his way. Didn't you mention something about him being a cheat in your last post. Think you need to wake up.

Someone the sport could do without. Okay, lets get rid of the first black driver who shocked Alonso with his pace (you know, Alonso, think hes quite fast) and has doubled F1's viewing figures. Maybe its because he wasn't raised on rich Daddy's farm like most of the paddock that more people can relate to him.

I'll just give you a few examples of why the guy is a genious-

    >Won races in his first season
    >Made Alonso loose his cool
    >Obliterated the field in the wet at Silverstone
    >Is currently leading the Championship
    >Is making Heikki look silly
    >Is ultra professional
    >Handled difficult situations tremendously. Shall I jog your memory? Racist chants, Spy-gate, Belgium Grand Prix..

I think the tractor pulling is on Eurosport now, better leave the F1 stuff to the big boys.
  • Hey I remember you! You're the guy who posts questions about bashing Lewis Hamilton every time right?
  • You're obsession with Lewis Hamilton is beyond annoying. I think you have a secret crush on him to be honest.
  • Your way too negative.
Do something about. Your fixation is becoming boring.
  • Others do see it Leroy. Ignore those obsessed with thinking otherwise.
  • Sir John Young Stewart OBE doesn't seem to think so, and I think he knows more about racing than you do.
  • .

Dammit Leroy, you got me! With an argument like that I had to re-evaluate everything I've ever learnt.

With your perseverance and complete doggedness to ask the same question in so many various ways, I have now seen the light...I thank you so much.

Bloody trouble makers - don't they just make your blood curdle?

Yes. And you are right on that one too...Top Gear "that was a really kind thing to say"...

    Happy now?

    .

  • Jenk. . well said
It was well reknowned that Alonso spat the dummy in spectacular style last season as he expected Lewis to defer to him. Fernando lost a lot of respect as everyone knows the only way to show your displeasure to an opponent is on the track. .(or like Senna who punched Eddie Irivne back in 1993)
If Lewis is such trouble then why are you religiously posting questions about him? Aren't you meant to be a Fernando fan? Post Q's about him instead of wasting your time on this nonsenical crap.
Get over it man! I'm sure Fernando has. .
  • He is not a trouble-maker ..stop picking on Hamilton ..I think you are SO jealous of him ...lmao
  • NO the point of F1 is to have the best drivers in the world and that is who he is one of the best. it doesn't matter if he is cocky cause it just makes the sport more competitive
  • Remind you of anyone?flight cancellations jfk
  • What did you think of last Sunday's race?

    May be...

  • Regan Smith deserved it. They say it every day in the driver meetings.
  • it was ok
  • At least stewie stayed off the fence, not his trick and he's too fat anyway. thought it was lame but not because stewie won but because a toyta won talladega again this year.
  • Wasn't happy with my man Jeff Gordon having to bow out early, but Smoke put on a heck of a show. Glad to see him get the 'Dega monkey off his back.

Hope JG can pull off a win @ Lowe's!
  • Ehh I think it's done and over now.
  • if it hadnt have been the 2nd big one it wouldnt have been between smoke and smith no way
  • I like Tony ... what I hate are inconsistent calls, or for NASCAR to say something is a rule and then enforce it for some people and not for others. It's unfair for everyone. You never know from one minute to the next what a violation is or not. It makes it look like NASCAR shows favoritism.
  • It was action packed alright. Instead of having the big one. We had two big ones. Not to happy with the second one, my driver was taken out. But Tony won, and he has never won at Talledega so I am happy for him.
  • stewart won and that is that!

Yes he blocked smith BUT he never forced him below that line at all. His car WAS to Far ahead and if smith really wanted to win he would have been smart to go AROUND stewart on his right and win. He could have tricked stewart to the low side and gone around him on the high side WHICH he did not.
Anything goes on the last lap but going below that line and gaining a position Is WHAT nascar Says is CHEATING so that does not go with anything goes rule. So I agree with nascar

So smoke won and I am very happy that he won finally!!
  • I think:

    Tony Stewart won.
  • So I've heard a lot of complaining that Stewart didn't really win. What if the tables were turned & Stewart went below the line? All the haters wouldn't be complaining then would they?
  • It just goes to show how dramatic it is when they race at Talladega (did I spell it right?) The race was very action packed. When they get in an accident, it's like an uncontrollable nightmare in slow motion, only it's happening real fast.
  • Awesome because it's dega and smoke won. Regan's car was allready below the yellow line when stewart forced him down so congrats to SMOKE
  • YES THIS ME A HUGE JIMMIE FAN BUT,,,,MY DEAR FRIND IS A HUGE "SMOKE " FAN AD IT WAS FABULOUS TO SEE HER GET EXCITED THEN CONFUSED MEANWHILE I CALMLY SITTING BACK KNEW THAT WAS TONY'S WIN....YOU CAN'T PASS BELOW THE YELLOW...THAT WAS HILARIOUS TO WATCH THAT TEAM EVEN

    Patrick Carpentier Fired!!?

    May be...

  • yep fired
    kicking a can
    shlt out of luck
  • Well this is the big leagues. The guy didn't do much to show he belongs. I wish him luck.
  • That sucks for Carpentier since he was in the crappiest car out of the team. I feel sorry for Sorenson next year as well. GEM seems to give all the good cars to Kasey Kahne and even those cars aren't that good lately. I think a big factor in Carpentier getting fired before the season was out was due to him having an argument with his crew chief in public after he failed to qualify for the race Sunday.
  • I thought he did a decent job considering the circumstances. He wasn't in good equipment, the 10 team for GEM has never had great success, and on top of all that it was his first foray into oval racing. He got a raw deal, but Evernham made the decision to hire Reed Sorenson, and figured he had to get Carpentier out of the seat ASAP.

I hate it when this stuff happens in our sport. Same thing happened to AJ in the 84, and now he has an interim ride. Right now it is produce now or you're fired in Nascar, and that's a shame.
  • Liked him better than Montoya
  • It sucks for Carpentier. He didnt deserve this. He had one bad qualifying run and they fire him

And as for AJ Allmendinger. I thought he was racing the 00 for MWR this week.

Edit: AJ Allmendinger is taking over after Charoltette. Reed Sorenson will be in the 10 this week!
  • Patreek was over the hill.

He had a good run in CART until Forsythe decided to stick with that ****** PT instead of him.

OWell - looks like BOTH of them are looking for work now................
  • Don't forget Scott Speed, he is an extra Red Bull car this week, #82. I sure hope Patrick gets another ride. I really like him, he's funny and very upbeat in general. He is also a decent driver most of the time. He was the quickest of the GEM cars in qualifying and STILL got chewed out for not getting it into the show. He got a raw deal for sure.
edit: AJ is in the 00 MWR car THIS week and THEN he will be in the 10 car for the rest of the races, per jayski.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • he was a great qualifyer but...darn, just can't seem to race very well. It was wrong to fire him all together, but even more wrong to fire him for the reasons stated. If Gillette Evernham thinks Patrick is bad, wait till they get Sorenson in the car.
  • I think it stinks. I liked him too. In all of his interviews he was always nice, happy and very personable. I think given time he would of made a good driver. Hopefully someone will pick him up.
  • I think it's a shame. I liked the guy. he had a few Ok runs there. I hope he gets a ride.
  • well he had an argument with his crew chief and that got him fired
  • that was gonna happen eventually
  • What do you think about this?
We started this season with many Open-Wheelers. Now down to only Sam Hornish Jr.

Apparently AJ Allmendinger is taking over the #10 car for the final 5 races.reset stylus
  • Haw do u like the ups #6 car?

    May be...

  • lol I guess I'm one of the few who actually like it. But your right it does look like a Hershey bar b/c it reminds me of the special paint scheme KH ran at, I think it was Daytona for the Pepsi 400 a few years back.
  • I dont like it at all. I think its one of the ugliest cars I have ever seen.
  • Have to agree with you....doesn't look that great.
Which is surprising thought Roush would really come out with a great scheme for it. Just an opinion as always.
  • I like it but you're right, it does look like a Hershey Bar. lol
  • eww. brown and yellow don't go well together at all.

    poor david :(
  • Somewhat reminds me of the #88 Snickers Ford Fusion. (I liked that scheme).

But for all the talk that UPS did (& does) about driving the Big Brown Truck its nice to see that their race car is also sporting that color...even though most would say that brown reminds them of a big piece of shi....

i dont like it it looks like a hersheys bar
  • It looks ok. I think they did the best they could with a brown car. There's not a whole lot of options with the color brown. So I think they did great with what they had to work with.
  • Not very appealing.
  • a hershey bar how about a turd
  • Yuck, I don't like it either. It looks ike a dark mud puddle with a glaze.
  • it's not great but i still like it much better than the 2 lame schemes on juniors cars. i would like to see more gold incorporated in the ups cars paint scheme.
  • The animated picture doesn't look too good. Maybe it will look better in real life.
  • it kind of reminds me of sewage sludge i dont like it. maybe it will grow on me
  • It's okay, I've seen worse....much worse.
And it will probably look better out on the track than it does in the picture.
    Go David!!!
  • It's alright, but they could've came up with something better than that.

It does look like a Hershey bar. lol
  • I like it. Brown does a lot for me.
  • It looks like "poopie".................
  • Well looks like UPS Brown is coming back to NASCAR.The first year UPS was in the series they used brown ( the rolling brown t_rd.)
It will take some getting use to.
  • i thank it does look like a Hershey's bar sure is some thing different
  • I like it, I think the brown and gold look pretty sharp together. It does kinda remind me of a Snickers bar or maybe I am hungry....missed breakfast this morning.
  • It would be more attractive if it had some white somewhere. But UPS loves to brand "brown". So I certainly understand the concept with the scheme.color emulator geo neo pocket
  • Can you help me out NATION?

    May be...

  • Carl, Jimmie, Dale, and Gregg (Mark Martin or Martin Truex for the C)
  • Jimmie and Carl are the obvious A choices. Bobby Labonte is a very good sleeper B pick at Lowe's. Kasey Kahne and Casey Mears are also good B picks this week along with Jamie McMurray. In group C I would take Reutimann and Mike Skinner. Mikey might be another driver to consider, if he can avoid wrecking he has had some decent runs there riding around the top. Good luck.
    3 STR8 N 08!!!
  • Im going with in A group:(Ive maxed Jimmie out (: :
    Tony Stewart(Momentum) X (active)
    Jeff Burton(Getting stronger every race)

    B Group
    Kasey Kahne(Good there) X
Martin Truex Jr( Good mile and a halfer)X
    Dale Jr
    Kyle Busch

    C Group:
    Brian Vickers(Getting better)X
Scott Riggs( Bootie Barker has got him running good)

Your maxed out on Vickers in C, I would go with Travis Kvapil.
*** AJ Almendinger is entered in the #00 of Michael Waltrip Racing which the #00 is not in the top 35 and just plain too risky for my blood. MWR hasnt had all that good of cars.
  • Don't know which group he falls into, but you best use Kasey Kahne. The dude has won 3 of the last 5 races at LMS (not including the All Star races).

    2 for 2 in 2006
    0 for 2 in 2007
    1 for 1 in 2008
  • Kyle, Tony, Jeff G, Jeff B
  • I'd go with Smoke & Harvick both have a shot...group B
    Elliott Sadler & Edwards..group C
Good luck! Hope this helps. Maybe keep Truex & Menard in mind too.
  • Gosh I have been working on this all morning long, I took brutal beating at Tallegada I need a good week.

    A - Jimmie Johnson
    Carl Edwards
(Tony Stewart almost won last year and may still be riding
    the momentum this week)

B- Trego is right Bobby Labonte has the 2nd best finishing average at
    Lowe's.
    Kasey Khane
    Kyle
    Greg Biffle
    Mark Martin

C- Ruiteman he is hot right now
Sam Hornish has a good finishing average at Lowe's.
AJ is back in the 00 I believe too.

    AHHHHHH!!!!!!

    >>Thanks Lenny you made me feel pretty good I got a 200 right on the nose last week. At least I beat you...LOL!!

    Good Luck!
  • go with Tony stewart, and Harvick as a group B. I'd use Truex then group C I'd use Elliott Sadler and Menard
  • A driver I have Johnson and Burton
Matt Kenseth finished in the top 10 in the spring race.

B list Elliot Sadler and Kasey Kahne
They both did great in the spring race Top 10

    C list David Reutimann
But you cant count out AJ he has got something to prove!!!!
  • Carl, Jeff, Jimmie, and Tony for the A group
    Reutimann for the C group

    Good luck!
  • I led my Yahoo Fantasy racing league the past 11 weeks and led 22 of 30 overall but have slipped to 2nd.............Give me your top "4" throwing in a group "C" driver in there somewhere...................Thanks!!
Johnson is an obvious choice but besides him, who would you pick as a group "A" guy........................
  • For a "C" driver, I wouldn't count out the Dingalinger... he'll be driving the 00 this weekend... the same car Kenny Wallace brought to a 12th place finish at 'Dega!guisto bangkok
  • Nascar Nation..............?

    I have a serious question?

    May be...

  • Que--
    whatever
  • You know, I'm doing a health project regarding mental illnesses. Could I ask you a few questions on what it's like?
  • haha you're so funny
  • haha!

    i thought you were serious!
  • How do i stop the rabid Chihuahuas from sneaking into jeff Gordon's house at midnight with their lego lazer guns and shooting him in the eye with their bright light pieces saying YOU KNOW WHY!!!!!! ?

Please help i'm scarred this might effect his driving???!
  • you're funny.
  • you appear "scarred"
    mentally that is.
Just stay in your house where you'll be safe.
we wouldn't want you to hurt anyone.
    I mean... yourself
  • if thats serious then you are a retard
  • that yahoo answers formatted "i have a serious question?" with a question mark at the end was the right thing to do. the answer to whether or not you have a serious question is no, you do not. a seriously unnecessary or seriously odd question maybe, but serious overall, i'd have to vote no.
  • Just close your eye's while driving.
  • haha, really funny. [not really]
  • Man, you are hilarious!!!!

    Future comedian....

EDIT: I wonder if the question before really made this even more hilarious.. and made you look really gay and weird...
  • OMG!!!

That explains EVERYTHING! And here I just thought he was having an "off" year.

    It's the rabid chihuahuas!!!

Tell them to go get some Taco Bell.

  • I have 2 chihuahuas and they are both Jeff Gordon Fans along with my golden retriever !!!!!!
  • oh yeah you're that gay dude who is in love with jeff gordon?

    sorry man he is straight
  • You give them a toy to play with.I have two chihuahuas, but they aren't rabid lol.
  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!fibia and tibia bones
  • Who hopes that Jeff Gordon will go winless this year?

    May be...

  • Lol kinda a one-sided comment there?

I mean Jeff Gordon is a ok guy.
  • He's not my favourite driver but this question is rude and uncalled for
  • you and your lap dog
  • What did Jeff ever do to you?

I hope he wins this week.
  • Who is Jeff Gordon?
  • I just don't know what to say...
  • I'd love it.
  • Only you...
  • tell him to make a right turn..................
  • not me I hope he gets it together and starts winning
  • I do! I don't think he's going to get 100 wins in his career.
  • I know! I know! I know!

    YOU DO!!!

    Am I right?
  • I hope he wins everything.
  • i hope so.
  • People with low self-esteem who hate Jeff Gordon so much that they have screen names that are detrimental to him.
How do you know he is gay?Did he use you and lose you or something?
  • not me
  • Not me. I like Jeff, he is a very talented driver who is in a slump this year. It happens.
  • I never wish bad fortune on anyone. Haven't you heard of Karma?
  • I dont hope that happens to him (as much as he is like my least favorite driver), that is like saying I hope Bobby LaBonte doesnt win.

Who cares if he was gay (which obviously he isnt), he is still like the best driver out there.zire71 freeware
  • Wow...DEI loses another sponsor...what are they gonna do now?

    May be...

  • Well if you havent heard. Theres alot of rumors that Teresa is gonna downgrade from 4 to 3 or 2 cars. Then after that. Eventually sell the company to someone else.

But like i said, these are just rumors for now.
  • Ya know that really bums me out to hear that. I am not a fan of Teresa in any way shape or form I think she is a very selfish woman. But I do care about DEI and all the money, sweat & pride Dale Earnhardt put into that company. It absolutely sickens me.

She would rather drive that place into the ground then give it to Earnhardt's kids. She sure isn't making many friends or fans. RIP Dale.

    >>>I really hope your right straitedge it would be a sorry day for all DEI fans, heck for all Earnhardt fans if anything happens to that company.
  • So what does she have left?

Doesnt seem like much. She should have just given it to Dale Jr since it is Dale Earnhardt Incorporated! not Teresa Earnhardt Incorporated.

I dont know how she is going to fair next year. No more Army or Menards. I guess all thats left is Bass Pro Shops.

She definately needs to sell it!
  • Army is gonna sponsor the number 39 of Ryan Newman next year
    http://www.nascar.com/2008/news/headline...
  • DEI will get a Sponsor. AS a True DEI Fan I am positive Max(Siegel) will be able to get and secure a sponsorship for the # 01, 8 and 15 cars. DEI will have sponsorship in 2009.
  • M. Pepper pretty much hit it on the head.
  • and this is surprising...why?
  • I hate to say this but she is getting what she deserves. I do not want DEI to go under, Dale put his heart and soul into that company, and her greed is making the place go under. It is a shame.
  • I think it's still a good opportunity for certain sponsors to represent DEI. They've got some awesome drivers. As far as sponsors go the Army only looked good on Mark Martin anyway. With all the controversy the #8 car could make a pretty nice rolling billboard.
  • she should have done the right thing in the beginning and gave JR what was rightfully his now she pays the price as the wrath of God has got her by the throat!
    just my thoughts
  • Sad, but I'm not really surprised. DEI only seems to be good on plate tracks. Eventually, Teresa is going to drive DEI into bankruptcy. What a shame.
  • I see DEI dropping the 01 car( it's only a leftover from the Ginn merger anyway), and keeping the 1,8, and 15.
  • Teresa will soon have to live off of all #3 sales...........
  • Karma.......what goes around,comes back around...h2 tires for sale
  • Nascar 09 paint schemes?

    May be...

  • dont play games
  • Beats me
  • Is there any way to change your paint schemes in season mode on the 360 version?
  • I don't think so. Once you pick I guess you're set.
  • Maybe this should be in the "games" section..............We are into the real deal.................Good luck though!

  • How do I start getting into dirt track racing?

    May be...

  • As long as you have a drivers license and a car to drive, yes it is that simple. Go early with your truck and trailer, sign in, pay the entry fee, sign the insurance waivers and you are almost ready to go. Inspectors will go over all new cars at the track closely for all safety equipment.

I ran in a Pure Stock class at a local dirt track for 2 years in the early 90's. It cost us $7,000 for the used race car we bought. A few hundred here and there on extra wheels, tires, fenders and other spare parts. Entry for our team was close to $100 per week...we had 5 guys. In our class the best you could win in the regular season was $150, the end of year race was double points, laps and money.

It got too expensive for us at the time so after our second season we sold the car. I miss racing myself badly!!! Hopefully someday soon I can hit the track again ;)
  • Being you have the money part figured out, I will tell you that depending on if the class you race in is sanctioned or not, you might have to buy a license. Example IMCA or WISSOTA which we run at our track you have to buy a license with that organization. 100 bucks usually. during registration, at least at our track, if it's your first time there you will be required to show the license if required for the class you are running.... other than that, you pretty much have it show up, sign up, then race.it's up to you to have the talent after that.

  • My cousin raced a four cylinder, at it cost him $5000 for the car and upgrades. I ran an AMRA modified and I had over $10,000 in it. Depending on the track you're running, and the classes they allow I would expect to spend $7-8000 and up for a season. And yes you pretty much show up with your car and crew and pay for a pit pass, and entry fee. Most tracks will have you sign a release and give you a wristband. You are then ready to park your truck/hauler, unload your car and go racing!
  • I am wondering how I go about getting into dirt track racing. Yes I have found a track and I know the basic rules but how much money is it going to take, depending on the class. And do I just go to the track a couple of hours before hot laps and tell them that I want to sign up to race. It sounds like there has to be more to it than that. Ps. I don't want to go to driving school so don't bother telling me that.ba holidays
  • Is Teresa Earnhardt going to release the 15, or is she going to hold on to it, too?

    May be...

  • She is probably going to keep it.
I mean if she wouldnt give it to Mikey, who helped with being one of the original drivers for DEI, then I doubt she will release it to anyone else.
  • Looks like the side burns are going some place else. It's silly season everybody!!!!
  • Elvis is leaving the building but the number isn't. Thank you. Thank you very much.
  • She let Mikey walk right out the door with NAPA. She pushed Junior out the door with Budweiser. Lets face it she is not the sharpest tool in the shed. She'll let it go. Whatever.
  • tbone said it all
  • The numbers belong to the teams. When a driver leaves a team he drives the car belonging to the new team. The car in which he drives in his new team has it's own number that is retained by it's owner. Otherwise they have to buy the number, and they can only have four anyway.
  • My guess is the number stays. It's worth more for Menard to get a different number and sell more diecasts because of a new number than it is to keep that number..
  • If she would'nt let the 8 go for Jr, she sure as hell isn't going to let the 15 go for Menard(besides Mikey did a lot better in the 15 than Menard did anyway).
  • I'm surprised no one has made a big deal out of this, like they did the 8. Personally, I think the number should stay with DEI, as I tend to think of Mikey Waltrip more with the 15 than Paul Menard.
  • The # will stay with DEI I'm sure I don't think she'll let it go just like with the 8
  • Keep it It will be needed by who ever buys her out. She has not got the sponsors or deep enough pockets to stay competitive much longer.
  • $100 says the #15 stays at DEI.

TE won't let ANYTHING go....'cept drivers!
  • It will stay. She rolls like that.
  • Who wants that number?.. Hasn't been any-good since Geoffry Bodine in the 15 motor-craft days!
  • Does not matter, she will probably keep hold of it like she did the 8 and will with the 15..with one exception..NO DRIVERS..heheehehehehehehe, serves her right..Menard can buy his number whatever he wants..correction..whatever his "daddy" wants! wtg Menard, get with a winning team...next year Truex will be leaving also, wtg Truex he will be one driver everyone will be after!!!!!

  • During the truck race they said going below the yellow line on the last lap is legal, Why is it not in Cup?

    May be...

  • Same thing happened to Lewser Hamilton at Spaz a few weeks ago. He cut the chicane just as Regan cut the course.
  • You can go below the yellow line to avoid a crash, you just can't advance your position.
  • I think the stir here is WHAT constitutes below the line.

I have heard that NASCAR will not consider you below the yellow if only two tires are down there. That is what happened last year in the truck series.

    Let's move on people.......
  • The rules are purportedly the same for all three series. However,NASCAR makes up the rules as they see fit.Everything is arbitrary these days.
  • Tom P...............You keep saying "move on"................Move on to what? The next race hasn't been run yet, we have to ***** about something this week,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lol and that is the big topic of the weekend!!!

In answer to your question; who knows, NASCAR does whatever they want to,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,BUT I DIGEST...............

Just busting your chops Tom P but this is why we are here................
  • I equate it to law interpretation in the court system. At different times a rule may have a different interpretation depending on the circumstances. This is the way it seems to be with Nascar. It is a shame politics has to 'run' so many things in this world-but I guess it is only natural--hence the name/word 'politics.'
  • First off all 3 series have different rules.

Second, if you listened to Andy Petree he was claiming it to be legal in the Cup Series on the last lap, DJ tried to correct him.

Third, Regan Smith said in the post race interview he had intended to go below the yellow line no matter what.

Fourth, Regan was NOT forced down there, he turned left to go down below the line and hit Tony with the right side of his bumper, both cars got loose from that.

Edit: Kevo, remember Dale's "pass in the grass" was not actually a pass...he was leading Bill Elliott when Bill hit him from behind. It sent him into the grass and he retained the lead the entire time.
  • it has been ileagal in cup for as long as a remember and nascar didint give this win to tony he got it regan was faster but the rule is you cant advance your position under the yellow line forced there or not and he didi so they moved him to the back
  • Inconsistancies in NASCAR are notorious..
  • You brought up a great question, and it troubles me to think that NASCAR bends the rules for certain big names, but they've been doing it for a while. I'm a Dale Jr. fan, but he was forced below the line at Talladega and ended up winning the race. The rule is suppose to be that if you're forced below the line, no penalty, and apparently, on the last lap, it's legal as well. Unless, however, you're Tony Stewart and haven't had a win yet this season. Then the governing body bends the rules. Regan Smith was doing what any other driver in that situation would do...Tony forced him below the yellow line and made the best of it. However, in my opinion, he was robbed of a win.
  • As far as I know it is. According to the article I read about the pass made by Benson at the Datona race back in 07 they made no mention of it only being legal in the Truck Series. Not only that, Kyle Busch also went below the line on the last lap at Dega in the Spring to win. I guess Nascar was just getting a little antsy with all these great races and happy fans this past month.... They had to create some controversy and stir the pot I guess....
  • If its legal in one it should be legal in all 3 series and Nascar should have awarded Regan Smith the win. They just didn't want to hear Tony Stewart throw a fit again for another race he lost i guess.
  • I don't think the yellow line rule went into effect until 2001 so any reference to a pass made in the grass before that doesn't fall under the "Yellow Line Rule". Key words of the rule is "voluntarily" going down below the line and being "forced" down below the line. If you voluntarily go below the line and gain position then you are penalized. If you get forced down below the line then the driver who forced someone below the line "may" (another key word) get blackflagged. The rule says you are not to go below the line point blank...!! The rule does not state how much of the car has to be beside the other car before it is required that a driver fall back in line and get behind the other driver so to me any instance of forcing a driver below the line regardless of if it is the front fender or the whole car should be looked at as forcing someone below the line and they should be black flagged. The problem is is nobody knows the rules to be able to say for sure. These are all just inconsitent quotes from NASCAR's decision in the past.

Also let me add that the acception of the rule about being forced below the line was added in 2003.
  • They wanted Smoke to win it I guess? It looked like Regan got forced down there, so he should be the winner. I think back on Earnhardt's pass in the grass and think Regan should have the victory. I was aggravated nobody else had the balls to shuffle out of line before that and go for the win. Sadler tried to a time or two but nobody would work with him.diamond wood matches
  • Have you been called a redneck before?

    May be...

  • Yes I have.
I don't deny my inner redneck.
  • I have and it doesn't offend me unless the person calling me that meant it in a derrogatory way.I am from a small town in South Carolina and can definitely be redneck at times, particularly when I used to drink.I have the southern accent and all and I love it.And just because I have a redneck side, that doesn't mean I am stupid.I hold an A.A./A.S.,am five classes from a B.S. and plan to pursue a M.S. and Ed.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy afterwards.
And no,Tony did not deserve the win.
  • No I am from Southeast Louisiana and have never been called that ! NOT ! No it doesn't offend me because I am a college educated redneck ! LSU Rules ! Oh yea looked like Regan won to me .
  • Yes I have and no I was not offended. I'm born n raised country, still live there and admit I am a redneck. The term applies to working class people who have morals, family values and traditions. I drive a pick up but I don't drink beer or any alcohol, I'm a die hard Nascar fan and proud of my upbringing. Not all so called "red necks " are bad people.

Did Smoke deserve the win.....the jury's still out on this one.
  • Yuppers. I have really bad teeth, (heredity) So when I got in to NASCAR I was called the 'R- word'

... i swear my inner-child is an inbred HA HAAH
  • Not only have I been called a redneck I am a redneck! And sorry to say but I am proud of my country upbringing, values, work ethic and traditions. The only thing I can think of when people are defining redneck that isn't true for me is I'm not a big beer drinker. One thing is for sure - our country could actually use more rednecks than these lazy bums sitting around drawing a government check and claiming to be redneck...lol!

And, no, I don't think Stewart deserved the win, I think he force Regan down and he had no choice other than to wreck him. If I were Regan I'd not heastiate to wreck him if the opportuinity ever arises again.
  • YUP! My friends call me that all the time. And i don't give a crap!! They don't understand the sport! I LOVE NASCAR!!!
  • well.... considering I live in Tennessee, I love Nascar and I have the classic southern accent - yes I have been called a redneck... I don't really take it personally but I don't classify myself as a redneck really..

I guess Tony Stewart deserved the win... even though my husband said that he thought all bets were off on the last lap and that Regan Smith should've won... which surprises me b/c he usually pulls for Tony Stewart.... I myself am a Dale Jr. fan with no unrealistic ideas that he may actually win this thing.... so I'm pulling for Edwards... nothing against Johnson - I just want somebody different to win this year!
  • ummmm im not a nascar fan but no one will ever dare call me a red neck because im black.... and id whip there ***
  • hahah, yes. i was on the phone with this guy, and i told him that nascar was on(in an exiting voice). and he said this exact thing to me. "i know you lived in indiana and all, but you back in ohio..cut the redneck ****" xD
  • Heck yes, all the time. They say you don't look like a redneck (when I am in my work clothes) after I tell people I like Nascar. I just tell them, think what you want but this dress/suit comes off on my way back to my country home after work. Nope, I am never offended no matter what I am called. I get a kick out of it.

On your Nascar question: I plead the 5th Amendment.
  • Yes, but not by anyone intelligent! No I don't get offended... I just say yes I am... If Loving a great sport and having fun with friends and complete strangers is considered "Redneck" I am glad to be one!
  • My father in law actually calls me a redneck a lot because I'm from Mississippi. Then, because I don't act like one, he'll tell me I'm not a real redneck.
  • Never
  • I'm not a NASCAR fan, but have been called a redneck before. Mainly because of my husband. LOL He is a deer hunter and we eat venison. OMG, imagine that! I guess only rednecks eat venison. No, I was not offended because my in-laws are rednecks. LOL Seriously, my father-in-law fits the stereotype almost perfectly. He's a farmer and wouldn't want it any other way. His wardrobe consists of several overalls and pretty much nothing else. But, he's actually quite smart and is one of the nicest people on earth.
  • Nope, never before. Although I have been asked if I was a Dale Jr fan before when I said I liked Nascar. That was more insulting to me than anything LOL.

And really Stewart did nothing wrong yesterday. It was Nascar that ****** up. So technically I guess he didn't "deserve it" since it was really Regan that should have won. But I'm still glad to see Tony finally get a win though.
  • I love nascar too! and yes i have been called a redneck before. i dont understand why people have to stereotype one another just cause of their love or passion towards nascar racing. i didnt really get offended by it at all... i just shrugged it off.
  • Just on Y/A! after stating the fact that I'm from Texas. [Rolling eyes]
    Some people are ignorant.
  • I proudly call myself a redneck... so... go fig! As for Tony, I've said all I'm going to say about that.
  • No I havent been called a redneck before...=)
  • Nope, never been called that.

Been called a clam digger. (I'm from NJ)

And yes, Tony deserved the win.
  • That's because I am a redneck...lol...

Come on...I live in the biggest redneck state there is....lol...Georgia
  • yeah well im a redneck and GODAMN PROUD OF IT
  • No, I can't say that I have been called a redneck before. Yes, Tony deserved the win.
  • I've been called a redneck before, but not because of watching NASCAR. for other reasons, LOL. But there are assumptions that NASCAR fans are typically redneck. I wasn't offended because it's true, I'm a girl, drive a big ford truck, ride horses, go fishing, etc. I think Tony deserved the win, Ragan didn't follow the rule. He could have just bumped Tony out of the way to advance his position since Tony was crowding him, but that's racing/defensive driving.
  • All the flippin time.

I love the Australian V8 series, you should hear what I get called. And EVERY Sunday at 1am, you'll find me watching telly, as it shows highlights from all the other motor sports, including the Nascar.

I have NO idea who Tony Stewart is, but I love Marcus Ambrose!!!
He made me fall in love with the fast cars, back here in Aussie. Send him back PLEASE!!!
    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  • I told someone over the weekend that I LOVE NASCAR. They said "That's surprising, you don't look like a redneck to me!"

    I was stunned, LOL

I mean, I know the whole stereotype and everything... But geez! No one has ever said that to my face before! I wasn't offended, I actually found it amusing!

So, my NASCAR Nation friends... Have you ever been called a redneck? Were you offended?

Oh, and a racing question to make sure this doesn't get deleted... Did Tony Stewart deserve the win?
  • Nope, but I have been called a hick--by my wonderful Northern Virginia/Maryland students when I taught at VA Tech. They thought I should lose my SW VA "country" accent because it "made me sound like a hick."

    I haven't lost it yet :).

Well, put it this way: if Smith had passed, say, someone like David Reutimann for the win, would NASCAR have taken the win away?
  • Im not a nascar fan either, but because I grew up in Wi for some reason some feel it nessacary to voice that opinion some times too. I think its kinda funny that just because you like Nascar your a redneck.
  • No I haven't, but I at times I have thought that of myself, lol. Sometimes I do redneck things, sometimes I do preppy things, sometimes I do professional things. I am a person that doesn't fit into any one stereotype.
  • I have been called a redneck for where I live, even though i've lived most of my life near a big city, ie new york, dc, baltimore. but i live in the country now so it happens, but i think it's funny. and here people say it all the time that "NASCAR stands for non-athletic sport center around rednecks" it's kind funny. but the term redneck came from mine workers that would use the "standard hankerchief" red coulor and put it around their mouth when the worked in the mine to keep soot out of their lungs and when the came out pull it down and hang it from their necks. hence the term redneck. BE PROUD lol
  • Tony did not deserve the win.

I get called a redneck all the time but I don't care, I usually laugh at it. My nickname at work is RNT, Redneck Tom, lol.455 rocket oldsmobile
  • How did Tony Stewart get the nickname ''Smoke''?

    May be...

  • Tony Stewart told NASCAR.com of his nickname: "I wasn't very good about not slipping the right-rear tire, initially. So it started as 'Smoker,' then it got shortened to 'Smoke.' Then when I got in the Indy Racing League it was 'Smoke' because one of the guys on the crew who was my roommate, and knew the nickname, carried it over to the IndyCar team. But then when I started blowing engines, 'Smoke' really stuck. I've had it ever since."

    Blanche your an idiot

During his NASCAR career, Tony Stewart once was told by Joe Gibbs he could no longer compete outside of his racecar. So one time Stewart entered a USAC National Midget race under the pseudonym "Smokey Jones" with the crowd at the track none the wiser. After winning the feature, "Smokey Jones" got out of his car and revealed himself to the crowd as Tony Stewart. He also entered himself in a race once racing the infamous "Munchkin" midget chassis as "Mikey Fedorchek Jr." after buying the Munchkin one night during a card game from Mikey Fedorchek.
  • lets just say it also has something to do with the word "Head"
  • Tony used to be known for burning the tires all the way down the frontstretch after a victory, and people just started calling him Smoke, and the nickname stuck.
  • Stewart earned the nickname of Smoke, first for slipping the right rear tire during dirt races, and for blowing his engine often during his '97 championship run. Most NASCAR fans and analysts today refer to Stewart by his nickname.

Song when nascar goes to commercial?

    May be...

  • there were a lot of different ones so your gonna have to be a bit more specific.......
  • They play lots of different songs throughout the race. The only one I remember in particular though was "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynard Skynard. If that one wasn't it I know they have been playing a lot of Staind songs this past couple months.
  • im sorry but this is nascar and everything that just happened on the race and all you worried about is a song
    get out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • There was plenty of different ones.
  • I asked that very same question last weekend after the race. I love it. It is a song by the Trailer Choir that they recorded just for NASCAR its called "last man standing". here is and article that says a little about it and the band. http://www.popculturemadness.com/intervi... they also have a myspace. from what i have looked up they do not yet have this out on a cd but there is some cd with the song on it that is some sort of a mix. don't remember what it is called though. Hope that helps you and that is the one you were looking for. Let me know if you find it on a cd or something cause i want it.
  • i was watching the talledega race and liked the song it played when it went to commercial anyone know what it isus bank business card
  • Don't you think Johnson is staying a little to far out of the pack?

    May be...

  • He didn't want to get that far behind. Something went wrong.
  • he was only doing that because if there was a big wreck he wouldn't end up in it. Talladega is all about timing because if you notice there have been 30+ lead changes because no one can stay in the lead. He was just playing it safe.
  • I think he is having some kind of trouble.
  • they just somewhat confirmed that something is wrong with the car.. you don't attempt and succeed to go a lap down to try and avoid the big one at talladega... something is up

edit:so now he is back on the lead lap and he was staying with the draft and i guess nothing was wrong but that was really weird... wow no he isn't on the lap! this sucks... i don't know what is up with jimmie...but don't forget cautions breed cautions
  • It's Talladega. A lap down is not worth avoiding the "big one"
  • He's doing it purposely?
Maybe trying to avoid the big one?
  • He's way to far, he needs a caution. Hope it works out for him.
    He's a lap down!
  • Yea, now he's a lap down!
  • He'll be ok because even if he goes a lap down, he will get a caution and be the lucky dog. He is not going to be in the big one if it happens, I think it will work out for him.
  • At Talladega the 2 best places you can be is in the front or all the way at the end of the line. The worst place is the mid-pack because that is usually where the BIG ONE occurs. If your in the front the wreck is behind you,if your in the back then the wreck is in front of you and you have time to react and avoid it.

  • he is like 17 seconds back
  • He's way to far, he needs a caution. Hope it works out for him.
    He's a lap down!
  • Yea, now he's a lap down!
  • he is drunk.
  • He'll be ok because even if he goes a lap down, he will get a caution and be the lucky dog. He is not going to be in the big one if it happens, I think it will work out for him.
  • He's doing it purposely?
Maybe trying to avoid the big one?class quot ring
  • Mika Salo coming to Nascar?

    May be...

  • I heard on the ALMS broadcast today that he's coming to Nascar. What do you think?
  • Wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mika_Salo does mention that and that he is planning tests. He was born in 1966. I think he's going to have his work cut out for him.
  • it would be nice to see him in action again...ever since he left toyota f1 racing, i lost track on where he's been since...if it does happen, i hope he doesn't crash and burn...i want him to succeed...showing us what he's got...
  • It'd be cool to see, but I'm not going to get my hopes up just yet. Jacques Villeneuve's failure of a career move is still fresh in my mind.
  • Who is Mika Salo?
I only watch NASCAR and Arca.beard massage
  • Has anyone ever seen Dale Earnhardt Jr with a woman? ?

    May be...

  • Never at a track.
can you imagine how the media would react to that!
He's just keeping his women safe by never bringing them to the track when he's with them.
  • Nope... what does that tell ya????
  • with his mom
  • Have you ever seen Dale Jr outside the track? Just because he doesnt bring his play things to work doesnt mean he doesnt have some...
  • Yes, and man were they HAWT!!!!!

I gotta respect the man, he keeps his private life private.

  • TONS of them.(never at the track though)

    Hey Danny
  • Leave jr. alone! forcryinoutloud! He's been busy driving his whole life to f k it up over some bimbo. He's just playin' it safe by being A-sexual. No big deal. Nobody cares that you've never been with the opposite sex...
  • No,but he probably just doesn't want the media stalking his girlfriends.
  • yes, don't you remember the show NASCAR drivers 360? the girlfriend he had on that show was an 11. i'm quite sure he's slept with far hotter women than your loser @ss could ever dream of. in fack, he's probably sleeping with a 10 tonight while you're all curled up with palmela handerson.
  • I have seen him with a few.
Reallly need to get off of his personal life. He dosnt want to bring it to the track. SHe would be hounded by the media all the time.

  • Has any Driver won the Nextel Cup and Nationwide Series in the same year?

    May be...

  • No, the only one close would be Greg Biffle if he wins this year. he will be the first to have one a championship in all three series. Truck 2000, Nationwide 2003, Cup 2008?? Maybe
  • no
  • no
  • Nope.Never happened.
  • No, but the only Cup Champ that has won a Nationwide Championship is Bobby Labonte. One factor is that the Nationwide started in 1983. Kevin Harvick came the closest to winning both in the same year. Carl Edwards is pretty darn close right now. He is 2nd in both. He is 196 back in the Nationwide series, with 5 races to go, he could do it. He will win the Cup this year.mclaren f1 vs bugatti
  • How does air temperature and track temperature effect a Nascars handling on a track?

    May be...

  • The air temp effects how the engine runs and how much tape they
out on the front nose of the car witch effects the areo dinamits of the car .
The track temp effects how well the tires will stick to the track. They will run different tires depending on track temp.
  • Track temperature affects the tires,
ambient temperature affects the induction, and shock pressure
(just a couple of the basics)
  • Air Temp.>
It has a big effect on Horsepower (cooler air means that its more dense which means more oxygen that will fit into the cylinder and that allows you to richin the mixture which will result in more horsepower) and all around engine performance, cooler is always better. Heres a free tool that I have used> http://www.anycalculator.com/enginehorse...

    Track Temp.>
Knowing the temperature of the track is important, but one cannot rely on this measurement alone. Crewmembers are always seen walking the starting line in order to get a feel for track conditions. I use the ball of my foot to gauge track conditions. Putting most of my body weight on the ball of one foot and trying to pivot gives me a really good indication of what kind of traction I can expect. Here's how to tell what kind of track conditions are present before a run:

Too hot: A hot track tends to be very slippery. As the track gets hotter, the rubber on the track becomes gummy. When checking the groove with the ball of the foot, if the track is too hot (greater than 115 degrees Fahrenheit), the foot will twist easily and leave marks in the rubber on the track. The groove will also be mushy, like bubble gum. Needless to say, this is not good for traction. Hot tracks also tend to have more bald spots, which further hinder traction on the starting line.

Too cold: In some cases, a track that is cool can be good; however, generally speaking, if the track temperature is cold (between 50 and 60 F), the track may not have enough adhesion. Under these conditions, the rubber on the track will be tight, but when trying to pivot the foot, it will turn fairly easily.

Just right: For traction compounds to work properly, the ideal track temperature is between 70-85 F. Under these conditions, the rubber on the track will be tight and have good traction. When checking the groove, the foot will twist slightly and the rubber will be firm and tight. This is the ideal condition and will give maximum traction.
